Mag=na-port on DA shrouds?
« on: May 08, 2004, 01:21:51 PM »
Did DW ever use any type of porting on the barrels or shrouds of the 15 series guns? I have a 4 inch VH barrel shroud with two vents that look simular to mag-na-port vents behind the front sight on it. Both ends of the vents are rounded off as well. There appears to be no such vents in the barrel through. Any ideas?

Powerport. there were holes (6?) at the muzzle end of the barrel. The vents on the shroud are connected by a relieved area on the inner bore of the shroud. It worked; but DW recommended cleaning after every 50 rounds. Most folks didn't like taking down their barrels to do that(lose zero) and replaced the barrels with ones that didn't have holes.

I know this is an old post, and maybe most are already aware of this, but the "powerports"  should never be used with lead bullets or shot shells.  The led will build up between the barrel and the shroud and make it nearly impossible to change the barrel.  (Don't ask me how I know that.)  The newer COMPENSATED barrels work great with lead or jacketed bullets.
