Need some help with .32 cal.

Guys,
    I ordered a .32 cal Crockett Traditions 1:48 and will have it by Friday. I was wondering if you had any input/load info you wouldn't mind sharing.

    Also very interested in any very light loads, below 10grs etc. of fffg etc. for shooting starlings, sparrows at close range?

    I have been fighting with ' which caliber' .32 or .36!  I already have a round ball molds for the .32 and have been shooting them out of my rifles. I am very happy with the performance of the .311 balls  on game up to 20lbs+ (some gobblers were over 20lbs).

I've always found sweet spots with 32's in the 20-30 grains of 3F and a snug fitting ball/patch combination.  Some guns have a breech plug with a smaller than bore size powder chamber.  I've always stayed away from loads that  did not fill the powder chamber; out of concern for not having the ball seated on the powder.  However, with the 10 grain charges, it might not make any difference.

My Crockett rifle shoots quite well with a .310 or .311 ball, .15 cotton patch and 10-30 grains of FFFg Goex.  20 grains is my favorite load for target shooting and plinking.  I not sure why you would need, or want to load below 10 grains because that charge will produce virtually no recoil, is very economical and is still quite accurate.  Enjoy your Crockett, it is a nice little rifle.

My standard small game load is
19 grains RS Pyrodex and a .310
muslin patched roundball. With the
neat little TC "Maxi-ball" I load
30 grains.  It is surprising how well
the little .32's will kill medium sized game
with the Maxi-Ball. (Up to Coyote size).

I have a CVA Varminter 32.  It likes a .310 RB with a .010 patch.  I load just a tad under 30 gr FFFG Goex blackpowder (1.9 cc Lee powder measure) for close to one hole groups at 40 yds.
