got my first mach2 rifle today!
« on: July 29, 2004, 07:17:08 PM »
i found a nef 17mach2 today at my gunshot today. it was $159 which is really not bad. i put a simmons blazer 6*24*50 ao scope [$65} on it . i got to shoot 17 aguila shells in it. it was incredibly accurate. im very pleased with this little gun. im also having a marlin model 60 converted to the 17 aguila. talked to my gunsmith today and he is on the finishing touches on it. ill let u guys know how it does when i get it back. the guy who owns the gunshop told me the nef was the only gun he can get right now and they only sent him 1.. he said that nef jumped the gun on everyone on distributing the 17mach2. they only sent him 1 and he said that many gunshops would not get them for a couple more months..i was real lucky to get this gun. happy shooting guys!

Congrats! But how come you posted this in the Rimfire forum and not on the NEF rimfire forum? And your post about the marlin conversion is in the NEF forum and not in the Marlin rimfire forum?   :?  Just nosey!!!

so long as it fits the topic (and this topic fits this forum) it can be posted.  it is true that it COULD be posted in a couple of other forums, but it doesnt matter.  they are rimfires and therefore are quite appropriate for this forum.
what kind of accuracy are you getting from your gun?  and how is the noise level?  i thought about the hmr and figured it would be too loud for my purpose.  maybe this other 17 will better suit my needs.

I think you missed the point of my curiosity! My point is if the posts were done in the logical forums, there might have been better response. If you are curious about the 17M2, pm me and I'll email you a July Petersen's Hunting review of the 17M2 in .pdf format, it's a good read.

i dont have the mach2 shells yet,but im shooting the aguila shells right now till i find some mach2 bullets..ive got it zero'd at 50 yards and im getting half inch groups.same with 25 yards and 75 yards. i tried 5 shots at 120 yards and it is shooting 6 inches low with about 2 inch groups..im very pleased with this nef. and to the nosey guy, it is a rimfire so who cares if i post it here and not the nef marlin forum.

You might want to check over at Rimfirecentral. They say that you can shoot 17 aguila in a 17mach2 barrel but you can't shoot 17mach2 in a 17 aguila.    Seems most folks are gearing up for the 17mach2.
