just tried win super x sabot slugs in my slug gun and they group nicely so i was wondering how there preformance is on deer out to 100 yds or so if anyone has used them please let me know how you liked them and well they preformed on your deer thanks

C.J, If your talking about the Super X BRI slugs (in the silver box), I have been using these for many years, even before Winchester bought out the original designer. Ballistic Research Industries, I believe was the name. They were originally designed as a long range police round, and had amazing accuracy and penetration on vehicles, but did not always knock a deer down right away. The first thing Winchester did after buying BRI out was to soften up the slugs by swedging them from soft lead instead of using the hard cast lead the originals used. These are now real killers. I think these are the best value out there for the money. I have killed deer from 14 feet to 125 yards with them. The 125 yard shot was an 8 point buck feeding and walking straight at me, I watched him come from 200 yards away, and as I was loosing light fast, I dropped to prone in the snow and let him have it. I had utmost confidence in these slugs, or I would not have done it. The buck dropped in his tracks. All the other deer I have shot with these slugs have either dropped on the spot or gone down within 20 yards.

thanks ramrod i believe they are the BRI sabot slugs and thats just what i wanted to hear because out of all the high tech sabot slugs like winchester partitions these seem to shoot the best in my gun only thing that came close was rem copper solids so i think ill probably go with the BRI's for the price and they are easier to get

Have you tried the Federal version of this BRI style slug? My Remington with Hastings fully rifled barrel seems to prefer the Federals. Every deer I've shot has had the slug fully penetrate the animal. The only slug I ever recovered was a frontal shot and the slug was recovered just under the hide on the far side ham.

id like to but they are pretty hard to find around my area canadian tire sells them but they are about $18 a box :eek: the win are about $10-12 depending on were you go and easier to find but i suppose if i dont at least try them ill never know how they shoot in my gun
