Anyone know anything about the Shiloh 40-70 2 1/2"?
Saw it in the reamer list at  4-D Products

Is the Shiloh 40-70 still the 40-70BN (bottlenecked)?  There are two 40-70's, the SS (straight sided) and the BN.  The BN version is simply the 45-70 case necked down, that's what I have.  I believe the SS is another case, but I'm not sure.

You're right - there are two 40/70s.

The 40/70 SS (I thought that stood for "Sharps Straight" rather than "straight sided"  -  but I'm not sure).  The .40/70 BN (bottle neck) I don't know much about.

The 40/70 straight is very much like a 405 Winchester, except shortened to 2.5".  Buffalo Arms also makes the brass by stretching 30/40 Krag brass to 2.5".

I have a 40/70 Straight "on the floor" at the Shiloh factory right now.  I talked to them last week, and they told me that they thought Starline now makes 40/70 Straight brass - but on the Starline site, there is no mention of it.

I'm pretty sure that Buffalo Arms stocks it.
