Iron sights for a 357 Mag
« on: July 22, 2004, 04:19:02 PM »
I have an older barrel in .357 Mag with soldered on front sight.  I plan to use it with iron sights, but am interested in trying fiber optic sights.  I have two questions:

1. Anyone tried the Fiber optic sights? How do they work VS good old fashioned sights?

2. How would I get the front sight converted to fiber?

Thanks in advance for your help.

357 sights

I had fiber sights on my Encore for a period of time. I couldn't get used to them, I was so used to looking over the top of my sights at that square notch I found the little colored dots annoying.
If you are interested in trying them I would either sell or trade you .357 bbl for one that has a screw mounted front sight. It wouldn't be worth your trouble to try and convert your current front sight. your other option would be to get a rear fiber and use glow or high viz paint on your current front sight to see if you like it. Just my $0.02.  Jerry J
