Dynapoint 22 Ammo
« on: July 06, 2004, 05:14:07 AM »
I was wondering if anyone knows where to get Dynapoint 22 rimfire ammo now. I always got it from KMart but now that they don't handle guns or ammo I haven't been able to find it. Also Winchester lists a "Value Pack" which I think is the same as the Dynapoint ammo but I can't find that either.
Good Shooting,
George

Walmart stocks it in our area.  They were only carrying around 5 bricks at a time, until we got our silhouette league going,  now I would bet that they have 15-20 bricks on hand at all times.

Good luck finding it.

Chunter,

If your local Walmart does not have Dyanpoints in stock TELL them to stock them!!

They can order them, as DPs are a regualrly stocked item in the Wlamrt werehouses. But some Walmart sporting goods managers are so lazy, stupid or stubborn that they have to be told you'll go over their head and complain to upper management if they don't!!

Bring the UPC bar code off of an empty Caron of DPs and have them scan it,they WILL show up in their system-most likely at $9.63 per 500...

jim62,

The sporting goods managers at Wal-Mart do not set the layouts or order what goes in them.  All this is done at division headquarters.  Not even the General Store Managers have the right to change lay-outs other than to get them to fit their store.  You want your local Wal-Mart to handle something other than what they have in stock you need to write to the division headquarters for that store and hope someone there understands what you are talking about.  Small groups and tight lines to you.  Lawdog

Well LD ,I think you have some bad info. If what you said is the case, why have some walmarts ALWAYS had Dynapoints and others NEVER had them?My experience is Walmart sporting goods managers can ask their store manager's for permission to special order ANYTHING that is listed in the normal wearhouse catalog at their discretion.

I know - our local Walmart in Nowwhere,ks just ordered THREE CASES of the stuff on nothing more than my insistence to the sporting goods manager that they do so.

I simply brought in the UPC code from a carton of Dynapoints, the sporting goods clerk scanned it and he double checked-yes- they were in the system. He called the assisitant store manager over to the counter,he aproved it and two weeks later the ammo was there.I in fact only wanted two cartons of the stuff, but the sporting goods manager wanted to try selling them as ,until I asked they had never evewn HEARD of the stuff!!

They sold nearly two full cases within the first week and now, will stock them regularly at the store.

All because a customer (me)asked................

Not really.  My wife is a General Store Manager for Wal-Mart.  Different divisions have different persons altering the layouts that come from corp. to fit their general area.  They try to accommodate as many as they can but they can’t always carry what everyone wants them to carry.

Like you said it was in the system and with the Assistant Manager’s approval it was sent to the divisional warehouse(this is where all orders are filled - they do not order from the factory for just one store.  Wal-Mart buys by the train load) where the division manager approved the order.  Without his(or hers) approval the order would never have been filled.  You are lucky that the divisional manager approved the order and that he(or she) is most likely a hunter.  A number of these managers are not.  My wife has approved many, many special orders that never were filled just because her store wasn’t approved for the merchandise and the divisional manager wouldn’t approve the order.  I was not flaming you.  I was just trying to say ASK but don’t always expect the order to get filled as the last word isn’t at the store level.  Lawdog

Well,Lawdog I respect your wife's knowledge of Walmarts policies.

I also did not take it as a flame.BUT-I look at it this way.Walmart is in business to SELL PRODUCT- period.
If they already stock it in the wearhouses, and a customer has money in hand to order it.Why not?

BTW,our local store-Dodge city KS has a sporting goods dept that was so ineptly run, that division management really put them on a tight leash the first of this year.Their gun inventory was a mess and they have dropped a lot of hunting/fishing related items because of it.Yet they STILL got the DPs in a week and a half!

The ONLY way more and more Walmarts WILL stock Dynapoints in the future is if folks do as I recommended and take the bar code in,have it scanned and say I,your customer ,WANT THESE!! :)

Most Wal-Marts can and will special order for customers,
But a decent payment will be due at the time it is ordered.
(Kinda' like putting something on lay-a-way that is not in stock)
The local Wal-Mart where I live will even bring out the Fire-arms
catalogs and let you thumb through and pick out what you want.
They will then order it for you.

Jeff223,

Been doin' just fine, thanks for asking!

How have your rifles been shooting?Did you ever get that CZ .22 you were thinking about?

BTW,I will probabley need some advice for a buddy of mine who's getting an H&R .22 Hornet "Handi rifle" from his son.I know quite a bit about accuracy loading a Hornet, but not too much about tuning the "Handi rifles" themselves. He may not have any problems, but you never know..

The guy is up in your neck of the woods, the U.P. in Michigan....
