I've just purchased a .35 Rem AA barrel, it fit's fine into my G2 frame, however the hammer won't cock. Any ideas?

Does it have the split lugs? I've heard that some of the older barrels won't allow the frame to cock because of poor engagement due to the older style lugs. But I'm sure someone else might have a better idea.

i'm not a G2 internal specialist :lol: ......but i know if a case is not sized down far enough, it will not lock up correctly, and the hammer will not cock on the G2 or encore. same effect with old model contenders, except they will cock, but just misfire.
if it's doing that with a empty chamber, then it's possibly not locking up completely. may have something to do with the locking lugs :? .......like 22hornet.......maybe a better explanation somewhere?

Didn't the Armor Alloy barrels have slightly different specs than the blued barrels? I know that some were able to change between blue & AA barrels on their blue frames but T/C didn't recommend doing that.

T/C has/had a factory fix which enables you to use AA barrels on a non-AA frame.

The old memory is fuzzy but I believe this is accurate.

I swapped out lugs with a known good barrel. No change. Now if I pull out the link pin, and push the barrel up (back) it will cock and release fine, but then the link pin holes are 1/2 off center.

The problem is the armor alloy barrel. I had the same problem with a 30-30. Fox Ridge outfitters can remedy the problem.

Get the conversion done and enjoy the barrel. I have a AA .35 14" barrel and it is my favorite. I have shot 1" groups at 200yds twice. Probably just fluke shooting since I haven't been able to duplicate that every trip to the range, but mine is an extremely accurate barrel. Invest the time to make it work!

I spoke with T/C today. They said no conversion was necessary, the gunsmith thinks I'll need a set of OS lugs. They are sending them out. He also said it was a common problem with the new G2 frame and some calibers (both blue and AA)

That sounds great! Those are easy to change and you can do it in the air conditioning. I just got mine in. Changed a few barrels out so they would work with both frames and not just one. Could not have done it without this forum.
