Do 45/70 rounds fit in Tamer .410 stock?
« on: July 05, 2004, 05:50:36 AM »
Just a crazy idea I have, I am thinking of buying a .410 H&R Tamer w/nickled receiver to match the nickled H&R 20 gauge barrel I have aquired. I have a nice shotgun stock for it and was thinking I could use the Tamer stock for walking around with my NEF Handi in 45/70. I am thinking the 45/70 rounds would fit right into the .410 storage area in the Tamer stock. I would appreciate anyone out there that has a Tamer stock and a 45/70 to try a 45/70 round in the Tamer stock and see if if fits and is held securely. Thanks for your efforts....<><....

Keep in mind that your 20 gauge barrel would have to be hand fitted to the Tamer frame if you wanna go that route for reasons of head spacing safety.

Also, keep in mind the Tamer stock doesn't have a recoil pad which would make 45/70 a bear to shoot I'd imagine. It's just a hard synthetic since a 410 doesn't kick that much.

Thanks shotty, all those have been taken into consideration. I still am waiting for someone out there to let me know if 45-70 shells fit into a Tamer .410 stock and are held securely. VC?....Anyone???....<><....

Hey guy I looked up the 45-70 round. Here is a url if you scroll down to the bottom of the page it gives you a drawing with measurements of the round.  Hope this helps.

MSP Ret,
Your welcome I wish I could have found a diagram of the .410 shell then we would really know if it fit.  But looking at the measurements of the 45-70 round it looks to me that it would fit.  But heck what do I know.  I'm just trying to make it through this last month of my assignment.
