Howdy,

If you went to a raffle, what grabs your attention?
Guns
Leather
Ammo
Other stuff..

I'm building the goodies for our October annual match. I'm wondering if what draws my eyes does the same for yours..

I always like the option of winning a firearm, but I also like off the wall stuff, things you would like to get, but due to the need to spend the money on other necessities, you will probably never buy. These kind of things are gift certificates to western stores, period canteens, a gourd canteen, leather accoutrements, heck even maybe tin coffee cups as door prizes. Like I said, guns are always great, but it definitely limits the number of prizes you can distribute, having one or two big prizes versus 10 medium prizes is really the club's call. Maybe even cruise some antique malls or flea markets and get some true period items, an afternoon of shopping may really pay off. I can also reccomend knives, I am a sucker for a beautiful blade.

Guns are always good. Instead of leather, I think coupons or certificates from leather workers are better. That way you can get the holsters for the barrel length you need, belts for the waist size you need etc.

Ammo is good as are knives, pocket watches and other accoutrements. Bullets for reloading, powder, primers, shooting glasses, DVD's, books, and other related items all are popular.

Our raffle has always been well stocked with guns. The recent price increases from Uberti have made it difficult to find a budget balance.

DVDs are a great idea and one I'd never considered. Who wouldn't go ape for a collection of Selleck movies? Shooting glasses are also a good choice. We've done the reloading parts, but the problem there is that if it's not your stuff, you don't want it. We try for a pretty broad appeal.

Gift certificates. We give lots of those away at our annual club meeting/party. Either purchased by the club or donated by vendors. This way, the winners come away knowing they can get something they can use. GC's run from $25 to $100. :-)
