Okay........., here's a dumb question for you - how does everyone clean their Ruger 10/22 barrel without damaging the muzzle crown? Everything else I have is a bolt so I've never had to deal with this!

I only have the 10/22 Magnum, but I've "helped" a few 10/22 owners also.

I take the bolt out and run a rod through from the muzzle end and "judge" where to drill the hole to be able to clean it from the back with the barrel on the receiver.

Drilled the hole in the back of the receiver. I also installed my own overtravel screw in the trigger guard. Had to drill a hole for that one also. Not so long ago you had to drill holes in the top or side of the receivers if you wanted to mount a scope. Didn't hurt the function of the guns at all.

I guess I just use what works for me. Advice is a wonderful thing, you can use it or ignore it if you like.

Somebody (don't remember who) makes a jig for this very purpose so the hole is drilled in the right spot.
Possibly Brownells sells it.

What ever floats your boat? I guess I will stick with using pull throughs on my guns that are not single shot or bolt action. Just as easy and cleans just as well with out modifications.

You're welcome, always glad to share stuff! I tried making my own but had no luck, guess you need just the right kind of trimmer line to melt and form a head on the end, mine kept breaking off, stuck in the barrel! For no more than the patchworm costs, it's well worth it! Tim
