Does anyone have or did anyone shoot the BFR from Magnum Research? If so do you like it? How does it perform?

I have shot the 45-70 in the BFR. I currently own a BFR in 500MAG. It is a gun that take a lot of time to learn to shoot, due to the power of the rounds used. I have been shooting mine for  a year now and still practice a lot with it. The gun has functioned flawless with over 1000 rounds of full 500MAG loads. I think Magnum Research has a great gun and I would not hesitate to buy another. It is a very well made gun IMO. If you buy the BFR and don't practice with it, you will never really get the full potential from the gun. It is a very accurate gun. If you decide to get one, please post your results.  :D

I have friend who has owned one in 45-70 for a couple of years now. Claims it a better all around shooter than his 480 ruger. Much prefers to hunt with the BFR.

When I got the BFR it came with a 7 1/2 inch barrel. It had the same recoil as my S&W500 with the 8 3/8 in barrel with it compensator. I had the BFR cut down to 6 inches by Mag-na-port and also had it ported. It  still has more recoil than a 454 Casull. It is a heavy recoil but manageable.  It is about twice the recoil or the 44MAG. But it will not fly out of your hands, unless you have a weak grip.  :D

Would the 50 action express kick less than the 500? And would the grips work ok for a person with larger hands?

The 50AE has a good kick also. Not a much as the 500MAG. Having large hands is an advantage, in my opinion when shooting large handguns.
