[TC4ME]

I have a Tasco Golden Antler 4x16x50 on my CZ 550 .243. I can not shoot a decent group at 100 yds, four to eight inch groups all over the place. The scope is brand new and so is the rifle. I have shot three different types of ammo with the same results. The barrel is free floating and the action appears to fit well with the stock. I know Tasco is not top of the line but I can not afford top of the line. Before I step out and buy a new scope I was wondering what you all might think? If I need a new scope what reccomendations? I am going to use this rifle for coyote and varmints. I would like to stay under $250 on a scope. Also the rifles test target at 100 meters is slightly less than an inch.

I would think the Bushnell Elite 3200 4-12x40 would be a fine choice from the Optic Zone at $239, or maybe the Mueller 4-16x50 Sport Dot from Mueller.  I've heard a lot of bad stuff about the current and recent generation of Tasco, enough that a lot of shooters that have had them now call them Trashco. I've heard some praise for them also, but it appears to me that you need to be lucky to get a good one in the bunch. I would definetly change out the scope and eliminate the optic from the variables, also check and make sure the rings are tight while doing the swap if you are using CZ rings. How's the crown on the barrel? Take a good look at it to make sure it isn't damaged, it should look centered and symetrical, the same all the way around with a crisp edge to the bore. Other than loose mounting, or a bad crown, I would think the CZ should be a great shooter. Good luck!

I think before you go spending more money on another scope that may not cure the problem you need to first be sure WHY the gun is grouping as it is. Doubtful a new scope is at fault. Maybe but I'd rule it out or in as the problem before buying another. Surely you have another scope of some kind you can put on temporarily and shoot it to see if that fixes the problem?

Might be your base or rings are loose and moving around on you. Might be you have a bedding problem with action. Just because the barrel is floated don't mean all is well with the gun. Maybe the crown is messed up. Might be LOTS of things. Don't spend money on a scope to cure a problem that hasn't yet been traced to that scope. Even if it is the scope why not give Bushnell the current owner of Tasco a chance to make it right.

I shot some of the smallest groups I've ever fired using an old Tasco WC scope.
