First Bear Hunt

Looking for any advice. Going to Minnesota first week September. Will be hunting with a STick and String. Plan to have reinforcement strapped on my belt just in case. Have read legal calibers. Among a lot of other things unsure what caliber would be best for a black bear.
Any tips or ideas greatly appreciated.

Some archers carry a back up pistol of .44 mag/6"+ barrel with large meplat tough heavy cast  bullets. If you arrow the target in the lungs( preferably both), it won't go far. Good luck. 8)

Talon is correct. A .44 mag is a good caliber for black bears.  A sixgun with a 4"-6" barrel is all that is needed.  Bears aren't that had to kill.  The two I took this spring went 20 yards and 50 yards.  Both lung shots from the bow.

Good luck.  Bears with a bow is a blast.
