Welcome to GBO, You will find all the information you need here in do time. There are some knowledgeable people hanging out on this forum.
What area are you thinking about, Most of the guys that hang out here are from Texas, Some from Florida and other suthern states If it was me I would be looking at Texas first. The only place i have hunted in Texas is in Dixon county, Its about 60 miles east of Lubbock Tx. Almost all the country there is lease hunting. I do know there is land for sale there but don't know any of the details. I know this is not much help but some one will pop in and help you out. Good luck to ya..........Joe...........

Have you seen a lot of boar down there in dixton county, texas?

I have bought land here in ohio, and in maine, right now i am just trying to find a good area to hunt boar, etc.  Once I find that spot I will try to find some property.

What is a good way about going around in finding where boar is at?  Every one I have talked to in different states they say there is no boar, but other people does.  How would I go about finding where they are?  I have even tried to call several DNRs and they will not tell me where they are located.

Thanks for the info

The Texas gulf coast has many hogs.  Russian boars however are getting bread out.  Less russian equals a better tasting hog.  (less smell, and a good layer of fat)  Try to stay away from swamps.  A swamp hog has a layer of black in the lining of their belly.  This is cause from eating some sort of lily pad.

cbbase32,
I would think you could get ahold of some one at the court house that could give you the information you neded to get you started on your search for land or information as to the pig hunting. And yes there are plenty of pigs there, The last time i went down there the wind was blowing sixty five miles an hour which don't make the best hunting, And no i did not do any good, Needless to say. Hope this info. helps you get started.
Good luck........................Joe..............................

There are tons of hogs here in E TX, there is also lots of land for sale. The timber companies are all selling off their land to investors who in turn break some off to get some of their money back. I am  in the timber business and we assist in these large land aquisitions(spelling) for some of these investors. Their are tracts for sale that are as small or as large as you want to buy. I looked at an old LP tract that is for sale the other day and it has lots of hogs and merchantable timber and can be bought for around $1000 acre, it is a 750ac tract. Hogs are easy to find in SE TX and so is the land so come on and I might be able to assist you in buying a piece of hunting property. So can also find plenty for sale through realators, but look to pay $1500ac and up.
