Eye Relief Question....
« on: August 03, 2004, 12:40:28 PM »
I have a Bushmaster Varmint Special that currently wears a Vari-X II 4-12x40.  This scope's generous eye relief makes it a challenge to get it mounted far enough forward, and the variation in relief at different magnifications only "magnifies" the problem.  Since the .223 recoil is quite low, I'm thinking of changing to a scope with less, and if possible constant eye relief.  The Leupold spec is for 3.7-4.7".  Any idea on what scope would be an improvement?

Eye Relief Question....

Sometimes using a higher or lower set of rings can make a difference, other times not...unless I am wrong the Bushnell Elite and the Weaver Grand Slam offer the least amount of eye relief(in a "comparable" model scope). I think around 3 inches or so??? I don't know how much this 1/2 inch or so will really make a difference for you. If I could see you in your shooting position with the rifle I could give you more effective advise...
