Heyya

Does anyone use some type of soft or light weight cloth sleeve to put their long guns in when the guns are in the cart?  I just made two outta saddle blanket material, for the SXS and the lever gun.  Looks nice but I don't know if they are really necessary.  (Made them both so the actions can be opened in the case while on the cart.)

And I was wonderin about shootin matches in the rain.  I assume that a match would continue if it was raining light to medium, maybe?  If so do you have some kind of cover you put over your gun cart?

Some one in another post said they carry a ponch for just that.

Was raining at my first (and only) match and the shooters either covered them with a tarp or held and umbrella over them.  After about 10 minutes the rain stopped so don't know what they would do if it was an all day rain or a frog-strangler :lol:

Lots of shooters here in Southern California use rifle covers to protect from wind and dust, as well as occasional rain.  Rain is OK until or unless the mud gets too hard to deal with.  We've shot with umbrellas, but there is a limit.

Was looking at some other posts and San Pedro Saddlery also have a scabbard for a rifle.  They should be able to make you one cut-down that would fit your needs.  Probably needs to be cut-down so open actions would show in the gun carts

                    I think I am gonna try the ones I just made last night outta the southwestern pattern saddle blanket material for a while.  They came out pretty dang good.  And you always say something bout looking good, so I thought I'd try that for a change   8)

You don't need to SHOW the open action so much as to just have a slot for the lever to go through when it is open, but still keep wind and dirt out.
