Finally decided on the one I want but have a question.

I finally decided on the handgun I want. Its a taurus raging bull 41 mag with a 6.5 inch barrel. But is it good for deer at 100 yards? Thanks!

I have a 416SS6 and really like it a bunch. Now as with all of the questions of this sort the simple answer is YES it is BUT nothing is always simple. I personally have set a limit of 30 yards or less for all my handgun hunting. I have a long season and a very liberal bag limit of six so I can afford to pass on those shots that are outside of my kill zone. But you wanted to know about 100 yards. I use my .41RB to shoot informal steel on my own home range. The Federal hunting ammo loaded with a 250g hard cast bullet from CPBT will take down the ram way out there But (again BUT) steel rams aren’t flesh and blood. Simple answer is yes it is but you have to answer that hard stuff about your ability to put your bullets on target in a killing spot EVERY time you pull that trigger and whether you have the skills needed to track dead animals that run.

With a scope and some shooting talent it will work fine, but it you'll have to get a good rest to make shots at that range.  With practice it will be easier from field positions.  That's a long shot for a handgun unless you've got quite a bit of practice.

Bottom line you need to be a seasoned handgunner to be shooting 100 yards using a wheelgun or just a gifted natural shooter, a good rest and maybe a shooting stick and a really good squeeze LOL. Using open sights I would think thats a bit too far but can be done and has, using some type of optics will increase your chances for a good site picture and a clean shot, Scope/redot ect... many days at the range will tell you if you can be steady enough to be accurate at 100 yards...If you can get some good grouping at 100 yards, I would not hesitate a good clear 100 yard shot using the right load and bullet for the game you are hunting. I limit my self to fifty yard shot while still stalking and 100 yards at a stand using a shooting stick, we all have to know our limitations, if you can't do it at the range, don't try in the field, might end up wounding a animal needlessly. Aim small hit small. RAMbo.

Go buy some of those cardboard deer targets, set them up at 100 yds and see how well you do.  If you can keep all your shots in the vitals, from field shooting positions, then yes the 41 Mag will do the job.
