help please - "Alamo Ranger" 38-Special
« on: April 26, 2004, 05:48:35 PM »
:D newbie here:

My husband has a 38-Special handgun which says it's made in Spain and "Alamo Ranger" is also printed on it.  It looks really old.  The story he told me was a Phili. Pa police officer gave it to his g-father  probably back in the 20's or 30's.  Can anybody help me get a price check or some history on the gun.  Any info would be helpful.

Thanks Lisa

Jim: Thanks for responding.  I don't know anything about guns as you can see.  I was checking for some history for my DH.  I would like to know the story behind the gun also if anybody could help.  He would never sell it, it really means alot to him. Thanks again, (that good ole Arkansas hospitality)  :D  Lisa

Lisa :  At present thats about all the info, I have and was able to come across, years ago and still there have been several manufacturers who have had their guns copied in spain and italy as well some with the manufacturers permission and some without finding detailed info on one of the copys is going to be a rough search, I wish you all the luck in the world and if I run across any more on it I will be glad to send it to you. :D    JIM

Dear Sir:

My dad owns a .38 Special which was manufactured by Smith and Wesson and labeled with "Alamo- Ranger" on the barrrel. It also appears to have either stag or ivory hand grips.  Do you have any information on this pistol?  Thank you

Frank D.
