Rifle Length of Pull
« on: August 07, 2004, 06:44:14 PM »
All,

I have a 1712FWT that is stock and has the rubber butt pad.  After playing with a couple other rifles, I have started thinking the stock could feel a little short. Is there  a rule of thumb to figure if a stock is a good fit, and you have the correct length of pull.  I am not very tall guy, nor do I have long arms, but I am thinking that maybe I would put on a thicker butt pad to see if it will do it.

Thanks

Chunter

The rough rule of thumb I've always heard is to put the butt plate in the crook of your elbow, on the inside of your arm and then see how naturally the trigger finger falls on the trigger. Regardless, the rifle must hold comfortably for you and a small change in stock length can make quite a difference.
