Help ith elec. callers
« on: August 30, 2004, 04:50:15 PM »
I agree that when hunting predators for sport a mouth call can be great.
I however need a electric caller for residential Nuisance coyote work. Shots are taken from elevated stands with a shotgun at close range.
I want a remote to put the speaker unit out from the tree. When getting paid I need to have the advantages a elec caller may offer at times.

Im looking @ the fox pro. Everything seems good about it except those are not real animal sounds are they? I guess it's the sound quality Im questioning.
Please give your opinions on any Elec caller you have. Please don't tell me to just use a mouth call. I just want feedback on the elec callers ....tape, chip , cd or whatever.
Thanks!!

I guide for predator hunts. Coyote/wolf/bears. I call it all. If you are looking for an ecaller, I don't think you can get better value than Foxpro. The units work in extreme cold, the remote works, the sounds work, the options allow more factory sounds than a person can use, as well as the option to load your own sounds.

The people at fox pro are excellent to deal with and always have time for the customer, whether for service or just information. They also have a new website with all their sounds to listen to. www.gofoxpro

I use hand calls as well, but you asked about the ecallers. Spend your money on foxpro and you won't look back.

Here's a weeks worth of calling.

Go to http://johnnystewart.com/Updateable/update_display.cfm?pageID=20&categoryID=15 and check out the Johnny Stewart calls.  I have used them for years with no problems.  They even sent me a replacement tape for the tape that I messed up.  Good luck and good shooting.  Lawdog

Red Frog,
Looks like you have some pretty good country up there to work coyotes in. How big is the area you hunt ? It looks like we are going to have a good crop of yotes this year. We have had some decent rains for a change
and i see quite a few pups starting to come out. My son was working on a 100 section ranch and was hunting and trapping. He did pretty good with bobcats and coyotes and a few fox, But he quit working there so don't know if he is going to harvest any hides this year or not.
Nice looking bunch you have there ought to bring some bucks, Well sir take care and keep your powder dry........Joe..........

I use a generic portable cassette player and utilize Johnny Stewart and Burnam brothers tapes I knock em dead with it. I have used this combo for 15 years and can see no need to change. The coyotes and foxes come in and I kill them, it is very simple. I use flicker, baby grey fox, baby jack rabbit, grey fox & house cat fighting,  and coyote puppies tapes. I dont believe that predators are to fussy nor sophisticated "if you play it they will come"
What ever you do ..........    Have fun doing it.

oso45-70I have access to about 300,000 acres. I could get more, but I don't think I'll live long enough to hunt all this. :-)
I was scouting for mulies last evening. I saw a good one at dusk, walking the skyline. I grabbed my fawn distress antler call and gave a bleat to stop him so I could get a better look. I only gave one bleat and he stopped but I think every coyote for miles started howling and barking.

It should be a good season and I've sure got the fever.

Here's a pic of my buddy from Montana, who comes up every winter for a week or so.

The fourteen from the right were from a week hunt here, the rest were from the winter in Montana. He says the mange has raised hell with the coyote population down there.

Redfrog,
Nice looking bunch, Lots of color variation too. Good to see them buggers on stretchers and stretched right too, You ought to see some of the pelts these duds try to sell, Then they wander why my son and I get so much more for our hides. Its a mystery to them i guess. Have a good one or two for that matter..........Joe...............

Great pic's. Especially that last one. Gets my blood going! Would rather hunt the yotes than even deer!
