hornady book shows 3.230,factory remington 150 corelok 3.170 average,is there a paticular good c.o.l. for this gun and cartridge or does it not make that much difference?

Usually guns like to have the bullets seated just off the lands, around .010" - .030".  But with bolt guns you have to worry about magazine length.  So, as long as it will fit in your magazine you should be just fine.
