Good topic KYODE. I for one an always interested in a new of finish. I for one much prefer Stainless-Steel. Can't really explain this except that in Calling Coyotes I am out in some adverse conditions at times.
Recently I had a Super 14 .30-30 AI Contender Barrel Hard Chrome Plated by Metaloy with their Satin Finish. While it does not match the Stainless-Steel Frame perfectly, I feel it is quite close and makes for a decent looking setup.

The above photo is of a Stainless-Steel Frame with the Metaloy Plated .30-30 AI Barrel. I have not had this finish for very long yet so can not comment on it's durability. However I have learned a few things about hard chrome in talking to a couple local machinists. This stuff is HARD. In fact the one machinist told me that in certain applications where a super hard surface is required for a bearing to run on, they have the surface Hard Chrome Plated as it will hold up better than hardening the steel, and last longer. I am not sure how this relates to a gun finish, you'll have to draw your own conclusions.

This photo is of my Stainless-Steel Match Grade .22 LR Contender for comparison. In this photo both the Frame and Barrel are standard production Stainless-Steel T/C items. Granted you may or may not be able to tell from the photo(s) as to any contrast between the T/C Stainless and the Metaloy, but I think they look OK together.
Asto the Baked on Finishes. I am not totally sure how durable they would be. I am however quite sure they will provide a rust resistant finish. The beauty of the baked on finishes is you can litterally have any color (or combination of colors) you want, even camo finishes.
Thanks for starting a interesting, informative topic.
