« on: September 18, 2004, 05:55:00 AM »
What applications are there for a bolt action[Savage FP10 tactical 24"] 308 or a Savage 99 22" 308?The 308 is inexpensive to feed.
Thanks.

I guess I do not understand your question.  By "applications" are you talking about hunting, target, police/military sniping?

The 308 will do it all with the right bullet. I have hunted varmints with a 308 its alittle spendy if you dont reload but you can. Its all bullet placement and choosing the right bullet for the situation mule deer/elk/varmint. I have seen guys drop a elk dead at 275yrs with a 308. Check out chuck hawks shooting page he has alot of good info.  Hope this helps

Thanks for the information. If it's legal,I'll use surplus 7.62x51[308] ammo for varmints. It's cheap enough.[I am aware of the potential of riccochets].
