Just put a used Marlin 39 on layaway at Jay's.  It looks as new.  Wonderful checkering on a pistol grip stock.  Didn't measure the barrel but it looks longer than the usual 20".  It says "Original golden 39" on the barrel in gold fill and the barrel seems to have a heavy contour.  Only $240!  When I take the Grandson hunting, I can now carry the 39 and he can have the 9422 trapper with the 16" bbl.  It's a win/win situation!   44 Man

44 man,
Just a note here. What you put on layaway is a arlin 39a, not a model 39. The model 39 was made from the early 1920's to 1938, and had a octagon barrel.
