another BIGGG grizzly story

A FRIEND OF MINE JUST GAVE ME A PICTURE OFF THE INTERNET.THIS GUY DRESSED IN CAMO WITH A BERET ON HIS HEAD.STANDING OVER A GRIZZLY THEY SAY IS 12'7",AND ONLY WIEGHS 898.IT SAYS IT WAS SHOT WITH A 350 REM MAG.AT 30 FEET.HAS ANYONE SEEN THIS PHOTO YET.IT SEEMS PRETTY UNBELEVABLE.

Haven't seen the picture, but that would be one skinny bear.  The .350 Rem Mag is a very capable cartridge at that range, but not in a Remington.  Remingtons are limited to the 200grain bullets, due to the short magazine.                        Rugers have longer magazines and will accept heavier bullets.  I can load 225gr Noslers for my Ruger that will fit in the magazine.  I also load 250gr Noslers and load them straight into the chamber by hand.  The throat is long enough to accept them in the Ruger.  The size of that bear though is in doubt due to it would be big news here, and some of my friends in Fish and Game would have told me about it.  It has to be checked in at Fish and Game, so they would know about it.

Let me rephrase my remarks on the Remington .350 Rem Mag.  I own a Remington 600, originally made back in the 60s.  Beautiful gun, 18inch barrel, vented rib, laminated stock, short little bolt handle, and short action.  This gun will only shoot 200 grain bullets or lighter due to the short magazine, and a throte too short for larger bullets.  Like I said earlier my Ruger .350 Rem Mag will shoot heavier bullets.  I do not know about the new Remington .350 it may be able to shoot the larger bullets.  It so it would be one heck of a good brush gun.

The new Rem 673 is based on the Model 7, in case that helps.

There is a lot of garbage on the internet.  These days with digital cameras etc. some pretty wild stuff gets posted.  A couple years ago, I was getting asked about a big bear shot and human remains found.  Turns out it was several true photos combined into a fake story.  There are sites that debunk some of this stuff and I found it pretty quickly.

Don't know about this specific case but be wary until the facts can be verified.  Funny thing, if the story is true, why are the pertinent details left out?
