G36 - Night Sights, or Not?
« on: August 16, 2004, 01:03:59 PM »
Hey all-

I am ordering my first Glock in the next couple weeks here, the G36.  I can't decide between the Night Sights, and the normal sights that come equiped on the Glock from the factory.

Please let me know your opinion on this, as I need some sort of deciding factor!

Thanks  :D

Never seen much use for night sights generally except for law enforcement working shifts. In a life or death situation I doubt you would even think about sights. The Glock standard sights are highly visible and, I think, adequate. Just my opinion. Would spend the extra money on ammo and practice.

The factory sights are plastic. Their replacement is about the only thing I consider as a "must do" modification on a factory stock Glock. The "PT" night sights are about $80 and are well worth the money. The "Meprolights" are good too and cost a little less. All my Glocks have night sights, including my mdl 36.

I put Meprolights on mine and they are a fine sight.  I would also look at the XS Big Dot if your goal is fast sight acquisition versus bulleyes.

Kinda late jumping in on this and maybe too late for your decision.

But I'd say if you have any plans to use it for night time self defense you better have either night sights or a laser. You sure ain't gonna see the factory sights.

I have Glocks with both but the plain sighted ones are not in a place where I'd expect night time use likely. The one by my bed wears night sights and the revolver in bed with me wears a laser. Who's paranoid? Don't you you have at least two handguns within reach of you 24/7? Dang, sumpin must be wrong wid ya then.
