What calibers were Remington Pumps/ Auto's made in?
« on: January 26, 2004, 01:00:34 PM »
In the 760/7600 series I know of .222 Remington, .223 Remington, 6mm Remington, .244 Remington, .243 Winchester, 25-06, 7mm-08, .270 Winchester, 30-06 Springfield, .308 Winchester, .35 Remington and .35 Whelen.

In the 740/7400 series I know of only .243 Winchester, .270 Winchester, 30-06 Springfield, .308 Winchester and .35 Whelen.

What am I missing? MIKE.

Both guns were made in .280 Remington.  The 742 was made in 6mm Remington, and the 760 in .300 Savage.
Hunting is Exciting!  Bolt actions are BORING!!
Don't mix the two!

The 760 and 7600 were also made in 257 Roberts. The 7400 was also made in 6mm. But I have only seen one of those, must not be to common.

I forgot about .257 Roberts and 280 Remington. I did not know the auto came in 6mm Rem or that the pump came in 300 Savage. MIKE.

The M760 was offered in 300 savage from 1952-1960 if I remember right.  From what I understand, they're a sweet whitetail rifle.

I have a 760 in 300 Savage, awesome to shoot. That old  rifle is way more accuarte than I will ever be. Recoil is not bad at all. The only downfall is paying the premium prices they want for extra clips. I bought 3 extra clips for mine  and I think I paid about $50 a piece. I have never used mine hunting yet, but I have never heard a bad thing about the round.

DMF, Thanks very much for the info. I am still trying to raise the funds for a 7400 Carbine in .280 Remington. MIKE.
