Remington is back in the race
« on: August 12, 2004, 01:24:12 PM »
I just got the word that Remington is coming out with its new varmint
rifle. Its a single shot made on the Xp action and is called the Rem XR-100
It will be offered in three cal.s All will have 26" barrels. The calibers are.
204 Ruger with 1 in 12 twist=26" barrel
223 Rem. with 1 in 12 twist=26" barrel   The Stocks were all thunb hole.
22-250 Rem. with 1in 14" twist=26" barrel

The picture showed a real nice looking rifle, The suggested MSRP was $879.00 which i thought was a little high.

The price in a gun store should be less...I can't figure why the XP pistols are so expensive...I mean it is not any more gun than a cut down ADL ...Go figure...650 around here...not for me at that price...& check the throat lenght on that varmint rifle before you part with the cash...That extra free bore is not to my liking..I handload so I can taylor the load to some extent..One fellow here claims the whole industry has loosened the standards of chamber demensions..From what I have seen on some new rifles it seems his fears are well founded..We should get money back gaurantees from the big three if the rifles they turn out won't shoot to an inch at 100 yds...mike in ct

Mike,
Thats why a lot of people are buying rifles of the same bore size and having a good smith do ream job on so the get a nice fit. I have a buddy that bought a new 243win and had his smith ream it to 6mmx284 and it came out slick and shoots like a bench rest job..........Joe......

Original XPs were on the Model 600 action. Later ones were on the Model 7 action. So actually there is no such thing as an "XP" action per se. Sounds to me like they will really use the proven Model 7 action.
