No. No. Nuttin. :eek: :-D

My oldest son Bobby was supposed to come over yesterday and bring his step son Robby to shoot my wife's Rem. Model 7 in 7-08 with some light loads I put together for him. That didn't happen as it was still raining big time from Frances.

I had hoped to have him try to cock the bow to see if the problem is just me. I've still not gotten the string cocking device. I'm waiting on the shipment from Cabela's. It left their warehouse yesterday so it will be a few more days.

Until I have someone else try to cock it or I get the string cocker I'll not be contacting Horton as I honestly don't know what to tell them yet. If Bobby can cock it OK and I can't I'll need to await the string cocker. Then if it works all is OK. If not I'll contact Horton and ask for their crank cocking device.

As a side note, just to see how weak I really am these days I took my old compound bow down and attempted to pull it. I wasn't able to pull it any further than the crossbow. So I think that tells me my shoulder problem is likely the major issue here. I really expected to be able to pull that old compound ONCE even tho it would hurt. But it came back no more than the crossbow. It is set at 80 pounds and until the shoulder problem was easy for me to pull. I knew I couldn't shoot it any longer but didn't realize I couldn't even begin to pull it.

So I kinda think I'm the problem at this point. Just don't know which cocking device I'll need to fix the problem. I still have plenty of time as bow season doesn't open until Oct. 15 here in Bama.

Read that, The rope cocking aid may help you enough but till you try you won't know. 80lb vert.bow geeeee's I would need a crank fer that

best I can do Graybeard is 50lb and not to many times

3-D with the vert, I use 40lb, hunting 45lb longbow. Prefence crossbow & crank :-D Keep us posted on your results :twisted:

I've been out of bow hunting now for about the past three seasons due to the pain in my shoulders and upper arms. When I last shot I had no difficulty pulling or easing back down the 80 lb. bow. It did begin to hurt me after long shooting sessions more and more.

My GP tells me I really need to let him set me up an appointment with a surgeon to do rotator cuff surgery on both sides. I really DO NOT want to go under the knife. So I take cortisone shots from time to time when the pain gets unbearable and try to not do those things that get me to hurting so badly.

I've easily pulled and eased back down a 92 pound bow a few years back a fellow had at our range. Was no more difficult than my 80 lb. really. I am a strong old fart or at least WAS before this shoulder problem. I was a weight lifter most of my life but that too I had to give up because of injuries and various ailments.

I have a fairly severe case of arthritis in both knees, hands and wrists. Have degenerative arthritis in my neck and back. And now this rotator cuff problem. Oh and tennis elbow in both of them so says my doc. Ain't growing old fun?

You can see why I've decided to give the crossbow a trial now that it is legal in Bama.

I will await the string cocking device and if that's not enough will contact Horton for a crank device. Slow but at least not difficult to cock it. I'll keep everyone posted as new developments happen.
