"FRUGAL" warning for swede 6,5x55 ammo!!!!!!!
« on: August 13, 2004, 04:07:13 PM »
I ordered 500rds of FNM 6,5x55 swede ammo from sportsmansguide.com I joined the buyers club too and they gave me free shipping for $154 total. That came out to be $6.16 a box. When it came in I recieved a $5 & a $10 coupon for my next purchase.  So i ordered another 500rds and between $10 off with shipping it came to $128 total.  Thats down to $5.12 a box.  I don't think i can be anymore frugal in buying good swede ammo at this low price.  Its getting harder to find plus more expensive too.  The 6,5 ammo at this price is cheaper than buying new cases and reloading them too. ( I was thinking of buying 500 new empty cases and loading them)  But now i can shoot them once them reload them since the FNM cases are boxer primed.  The only other thing is the ammo is marked "Target" on the end of the cases.  The stuff came in plastic sealed 100rd bags  its new and clean too.   "Very Frugal Now"    BigBill

We don't see this ammo so cheap all the time too since the Sellier & Bellot   ammo is starting to creep up in price at some places.

BigBill - thanks!  That is a bargain worth looking into.  As ya'll know, the Ljungman can go through a lot of ammo in a short period of time.  And it is soooo much fun, too.  Mikey.

Mikey thats why i bought some of it for the ljungman too.  Since I shot the FNM brand in 8mm and 7.5 french and it was very accurate ammo i figure the 6,5 should be just as good too.                     BigBill

The FNM in 7.5 Swiss and 7.65 MAS is loaded pretty light. I'll be interested in hearing how this stuff shoots and whether it cycles the 42B.

I've used the FNM ammo in 7.5 french and it cycled my unissued 49/56 ok but it wouldn't cycle my MAS 49 I think it was the 9001 batch of ammo that did this since then they have corrected it from what i have heard.

BTW I asked about using the FNM ammo in a ljungman on another forum and they said it worked fine in it.

Have you tried reloading any of it?  I found the Igman ammo that AIM sells to be decent quality ($5.99 per box), and it's boxer primed, but the flash holes are a bit small and they're always pushing my decapping rod up (takes me another few minutes to reset it :().  I've pretty much given up on reloading that stuff.

I've only reloaded the FNM ammo in 7,5 french with no problems.  I heard the 6,5 FNM ammo is made prvi-partizan ammo from serbia/montrego former yugoslavia.  I haven't shot any yet.     BigBill
