I bought one, and I love it! It will make one 3 shot hole at 50 yards easily! My scope mounting skills were challenged though. I got the huntsman at WallyWorld with a CVA Universal Scope Mount.. I had an hour to get home, mount the scope, and get to the range. I just used one of the bases, and both rings crammed together forward of the turrets. It is very ugly, but was solid through the 12 shots I had time for. I sits back about an inch further than I'm used to, but isn't so far back I'll put my eye out. I want to leave it that way, but it's soooooo Ugly! The rangemaster came down from the tower to tell me how to mount a scope..hahaha
I seem to have the best luck with cheap smokepoles. My first was a CVA buckhorn tackdriver, next was a CVA Staghorn tackdriver (Same rifle, different sights is all). Then I bought a $179 CVA Hunterbolt Camo/Nickle at Sam's. It wasn't as accurate as the $99 horns, but still good. Then I got a CVA Optima, one of the early ones. It stunk! Killed my shoulder, was very hard to get a powerbelt down after just a couple of shots, and it would only group about 6" at 50 yards. I sold it for $100 to my brother.
The Huntsman is my new favorite. It's got break open cleaning/capping ease like the Optima, even easier with the cap holders, and it's as accurate as anything I've seen. Before I bought it I saw how small it was and thought "It's going to kick like a mule!". I was very wrong, or at least the rubber butt pad is so nice I didn't feel the 12 shots I took today wearing just a t-shirt. With the Optima my shoulder was starting to cry after 5-6 shots with only 2 pellets. How long do the primer carriers last? - Joe
