Opinions on a Polaris 335 Sportsman
« on: August 25, 2004, 01:45:56 AM »
Hi Everyone,  :D I've got a chance to purchase a 99 Polaris Sportsman 4x4 ATV for around 3 grand. The machine has low hours on it and seems to be very well maintained but I don't have much experience with ATV's. Does anyone have any pro's or cons about this ATV? It will be used mainly for getting into our hunting area and recovering game. Thanks! CEJ..

For what you will be doing with it I think you will be pleased.

I live in Wyoming and my brother lives in Texas. I bought a Sportsman 500 and brother bought a 335. For what he does down there, it works great and he is quite pleased with it. When he brought it up here to hunt with me it lagged a bit but still did OK. If steep inclines on a regular basis are not in the picture for you, I think you're gonna like it.
Perception is everything. For instance, a crowded elevator smells different to a midget.

My only concern would be with the 3 grand selling price which seems a bit steep for a 5 year old bike.  The bike itself may well be all you need as has already been mentioned but I would have to think hard about the price.

Hi Guys,
Thanks for all of the information you've given me. Most of the riding will be on old tote roads and trails. As to the final price we haven't started horse tradin yet   CEJ...

I would at the least try to get him close to 2k. I agree that 3k is a little steep.

I have to agree about the price. I bought a 2001 325 Trail Boss 4x2 in excelent condition with the original tires which are hardly worn for $1,700. I would have paid more due to the condition but not too much.
