Finally decided to try out a red dot on the R7. Bought a fairly inexpensive Tasco 5 MOA Red Dot. Clamped right on the dovetail groove straight out of the box. For only $30 it seems to be of decent quality - the dot clairty is just as good or better than some of the more expensive units I have looked through.
Sighted in at the 50 ft indoor range. With the poor lighting at the indoor range this sight is a great improvement! Shot my best group to date! Was very pleased with my initial range session with the red dot. I have not given up on open sights - still have the HW30 for that.
