Have you noticed any difference between these single shot rifles and say a bolt action concerning the noise level?

Has any one ever ported one of these barrels?

same ammo out of the same length barrels, one a bolt action and one a Sportster = same amount of noise. I don't ever remember reading or hearing of anyone porting a .22 LR barrel. Why would you do it?....<><....

To make more noise?
To reduce muzzle jump in rapid-fire situations? :P
