Doc---on my 10" 22lr, I have used a T/C 4x (great, but no longer in T/C catalog) a Weaver 2.5-8x, and a Bushnell Trophy 2-6x---hunted squirrels with all three. Be aware that focus and parallax setting close in can be a problem on most handgun scopes since most are set at 90 or 100yds. Also this is more of a problem with variables. Plus, with variables, it takes time to vary the focus then find the new point of eye relief.(Bushnell scopes don't have that problem).I prefer a fixed 4x for squirrels----most shots are well inside of 50 yds--plenty of magnification--- and more forgiving in eye relief, parallax, width of view, and depth of field(focus). Probably best to use a fixed power scope for getting used to a handgun scope anyway. pg
