The cartridges as I understand it are really nothing but improved versions of others on the .30-30 case. IOW the .30 you are interested in is basically a .30-30 AI, the 7MM a slightly improved 7-30 Waters. I think both SSK and Bullberry offer similar improved versions in same calibers as Eben offers.

Cartridge wise I don't think any of them do anything the others don't do equally as well.

Now the rifle or should you chose the handgun version is a nice gun from all I've heard. He didn't see fit to loan me one for a review tho so that's merely hearsay. All I've heard of it say they are nicely accurate. I feel he is a bit "bold" shall we say in his comparison's with belted mangums. But he doesn't out right lie. Instead he uses (perhaps even abuses) what I've said many times myself. You gain darn little trajectory wise when you jump to the magnums over standard rounds on the .308 or '06 case. The same could be said of using them vs. his rounds. But in comparing his to the belted mags? Well I kinda think that's a little different story.

I can't help much on a pistol length barrel, nor with field use as of yet. But my 26" 7BRM, is very accurate. The only bullets I have used in load work so far, are 120 and 150 gr. I plan on the 150's for deer this season.

I have 7mm brm in the bf hunter. great pistol and a real accurate cartridge, shoots 160 gr sierra matchkings 2200 fps out of 15 inch barrel. no complaints, kills hogs and deer at about any range that you can shoot at. BRU

Have either of you who own the 7 BRM compared the case to that of a 7-30 Waters? Just wondering how much of an improved case it really is over the 7-30.

I honestly don't think you could get 2200 fps with a 160 grain in a Contender at safe pressures. So Eben's gun must be capable of handling higher pressures than the Contender to provide data pushing it that fast. Heck I've never gotten 2200 fps out of a 140 grain in a 14" 7-30 at what I felt was safe pressures.

yes sir, I didn't get the pistol chambered in 7-30 because it is a custom pistol. I had a contender in 7-30. shot fairly good. never tried to shoot 160 gr bullets. I had it rechambered to 7mm bellm. tack driver. no it didn't do anything better than the waters as far as velocity. just made it more accurate. I think a waters is an excellent round. the 7mm brm does have minimum body taper. that seams to help the gun with bolt thrust. the bf hunter pistol responds to high pressure by sticky extraction and makes it hard to drop the falling block. I shoot 40.2 grains of n-160 with no problems. i can shoot more but the accuracy falls off. I have a burris 2x7 ballistic plex reticle on this gun and give me a set of rangefinders i can do fairly well out to 350 yards with my stoney point shooting sticks.BRU
