When building a ML riflegun;; What kind of trigger?
« on: March 30, 2003, 09:43:41 AM »
I've done 2 kits', from my 15 yrs in bp I'm used too, and enjoy Double sett,doublelever triggers.
However the project I'm starting now will be primarily a target/small game .40 cal long rifle following a southernmtn,poorboy school(although far from PC or HC),I'm putting together parts and stock "I" want.
I'm swinging towards a double set trigger,I don't think double lever will be important with this rifle.( My lock has a fly). Yet, I want a smooth,easy to adjust, reliable trigger.

My question is:;
    Is there a huge differance tween Siler,Davis,L&R or Cain when it comes to "smooth/crisp" target style operation of the triggers available?

Cost does matter. I'm not going to dump a C-note on a trigger.
But +/- a standard deviation of 25% of a Grant wouldn't bother me much.

Any and all comments welcome, Thanks in advance.

Johnt Having only built one from scratch, I don't have alot of experience in all the different types of available parts. I used Davis double set triggers. I'm quite happy with my choice. It is crisp with no creep. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again on another rifle. My rifle is like yours, primarily a target/small game .40 caliber.

My triggers came from http://www.muzzleloaderbuilderssupply.com/ They offer alot of nice stuff........
