i took my new 20-gauge pardner out today to shoot slugs. it shot them VERY well. as close as i could guess, i was 45 yards from the target or so. offhand, i shot 2 federal slugs and they were about 5 inches low and to the right a bit.
i then tried the cheapie winchesters i brought. they shot 2 inches low but right on from side to side. i then sat down and tried to shoot out the bullseye of my target with them, held it very still and damn near accomplished my goal. those slugs will shoot approximately a 3" group at 45 yards. very nice. my old mossberg slug gun didnt do any better than that.
i weighed down my stock with rolls of nickles and put an Allen shell holder on the stock for even more weight, and the recoil was very light, less than shooting a shotshell in the same gun, unweighted.
btw i also saw the new NEF pump at the gunshop tonight. VERY nice gun. i was impressed. (yes i know where theyre made and i am not close minded enough to think i can avoid chinese products forever) and they only wanted $179...it was a national chain and theyre known to be marked up on most items, but still...$179 for a new pump that i really would have to say is honestly as good as my 870 express. maybe better, but i would have to spend more time and shoot it to make that decision.
