Do I nee a gunsmith for German claw mount rings?
« on: August 31, 2004, 01:19:25 PM »
I have an opportunity to pick up a 1957 Mannlicher Schoenauer rifle in min condition the only problem it was fitted with a German claw mount scope at one time and the scope or rings are not with it. Does anyone know if rings can be made and fitted to the rifle and who might do that work?

Thanks,

bigboar

Leupold used to make available gunsmith rings. These had not been milled to fit any base and could be used to make claw mount rings.  I'm sure some of the custom smiths could make a set of rings from scratch of course the cost would be extreme.  I believe Brownells has a set of mounts/rings but am unsure as to who made them.  Another place to look would be NewEnglundCustomGuns.  They have some very interesting custom rifle components and material for sale.
