LEUPOLD 30MM VARIX III??
« on: August 17, 2004, 04:58:36 AM »
I just recieved a new redhead catalog and they showed the new vari x III in 1" or 30mm tubes...about 175.00 price difference.I am thinking about getting a new vari x III for my new .270.What do you gain with a 30mm tube over a 1" tube? With any advantage you gain...... Is it worth the extra dollars?

BB,

The VX-III 30mm's are the Long Range models.  The only advantage to the 30mm is they will offer more windage and elevation adjustments compared to the 1" tubes.

You also get the "side focus" feature instead of the AO

I just purchased a new (2003 model) Leupold Mark 4 Long Range Tactical M1 scope, 30mm tube 6.5X20X50mm with Mil-Dot, side focus for 669.99 from Midway USA.  I couldn't pass up the deal.  I usually buy from OpticsZone, but Midway had these on special.  These were almost a 1000.00 scope.

I received it yesterday and I really like it, don't know which rifle I will put it on yet, this is my first Leupold, I usually buy Nikon scopes which I really like
