Hunting front sight for SA Ruger

I am happy enough with the stock Ruger revolver sights for paper punching and linking, but when it is time to pick a spot against the dark,  furry shoulder of a deer, elk or hog, and maybe in shadow, I am wanting some contrast. Are most of you revolver hunters still using whiteout on the front blade, or swapping out the steel for the plastic C-More sight blades? What is working best for you in the field?

best low light sights for me are a black square front blade and a bowen rear i like the front thinned to .10 that way you can see a little more light between the blade in low light. Never did care for colared sights they wash out in bright light and dont help a bit in low light.

you can get that glow- in- the dark paint. It is a pail white with yellow tent. then in the low light all you do is hit it with your flash light and it will glow for about 40 minuets.

I just got through having a Ruger Bisley built. It has a Bowen Rough Country rear sight and a Weigan Combat front sight. The nice thing about the front sight is that the blades are interchangable. It uses the S&W DX system. You can get any front sight configuration you want in any height. I have a plain black Patridge and 2 different fiber optic blades. You can also get a Trijicon blade, a gold bead blade, plain ramp, or red ramp blade. You can go to Weigan Combats web sight to look at this system. They call for it to be silver soldered on, but my gunsmith put mine on with two screws. Everyone that has seen it likes it. Hope this helps.

Last year Illinois opened up the firearms deer season to handgunners. For the first time in my 56 years I found myself in need of a different type of sight. We hunt heavy timber and not much light filters into it, even at broad daylight. I put a red dot scope on my 629 Classic and all looks well so far. Even at the break of daylight, I can see my sight. Last year with only the stock iron sights, I tried several times on different mornings and could not distinguish my sights good enough to take an ethical shot. Should the opportunity arise this year, I'm hoping things will be better.
