Tell me what yo know about a CVa Staghorn and a Knight Ameri

I have a friend that needed some money so I bought a CVA Staghorn Magnum and a Knight American both in 50 caliber for $60.00 each. The Knight had never been shot and The CVA had only been fired a couple of times. I am sort of new to Muzzleloading and would like your opinion on the two and also which percussion cap do I use with these rifles? Also where can I get a take down tool for these? Thanks

I can only comment on the Staghorn.  For a "take down tool" about the only thing you need is a breech plug wrench.  It's CVA part number AC1603  They are $12.95 from www.cva.com  J&M Hunting Supplies has them for $9.63 http://www.shootnhunt.com/catalog/JM/black_powder/misc_tools/index.html
For a cap you just need 209 shotgun primers.  $3 for 50 or so about anyplace.  The Staghorn I had was very accurate.  Having to pull the bolt back to cock it was a little too noisy in the woods for my taste.  I can't really complain though.  For it's super cheap price, it's the gun that got me hooked on smokepoles.   I shot 2 deer with it.  2 50gr Pyrodex pellets and a 295gr HP powerbelt worked fine in mine.

Great shooter, but needs some mods to be a "nice" gun with the exception of the simple but effective bolt. Replace the plastic front sight with a metal Williams, and the rear with a Williams WGRS. Fill the stock with expanding foam to deaden sound and add a Limbsaver recoil pad and ya got it made. I've got the .45 cal, shoots 120gr 2f T7 and a 275 gr powerbelt real well.

I have the Staghorn in .45, use REAL 200 and 250 gr lubed with liquid alox, good acccuracy with 50 to 100 gr 777 FF, have fired 20 shots without a problem reloading the REAL bullet and I use ww + Tin alloy, air cooled, about 12BHN.
