I learned the hard way this past weekend to ALWAYS wear eye protection when shooting. While sighting in my Trailside , I was hit by a chunk of something right in the corner of my eye. It sure didn't tickle, and it looked like I had conjunctivitis for a few hours, but I know I got lucky. It could have been a lot worse. I checked out my eye in the rearview mirror of my car, and managed to gently pick out the "shrapnel". I think it was a tiny sliver of lead that was shaved from the bullet as it entered the chamber. I definitely won't tell the wife about this one or I'll never be allowed to go shooting again :wink: .
Does anyone know who makes quality shooting glasses that fit over prescription eyeglasses? I don't mean those el cheapo hard plastic safety glasses that feel like barbed wire on the side of your head. Thanks.

My glasses are larger than the currently fashionable mini-frames, so I get good coverage from the front. For protection from the sides, I use cardboard cutout blinders made from ammo boxes. The cutouts have holes punched in so that the legs of my glasses can fit through the holes in the blinder. This protects me from brass flying from the left in shooting matches, and also keeps out the sun when I'm shooting while facing north while shooting late in the afternoon.

We all need to be especially cautious when shooting next to someone else, or even when standing slightly behind a shooter. It seems like the bystanders are more likely to be hurt than the shooters themselves.

Any good pair of workers safety glasses will work. Check out your local hardware store.

Look for the word polycarbonate, this lens will not shatter under impact, most shooting glasses are made of that type of plastic. I also wear over sized aviator lens for protection, there has many times in life the lens protected my eye's, always wear shooting glasses,even if you don't need corrective lenses, play it safe, you only have one set of eye's. Aim small hit small. RAMbo.

I use safety glasses that are proscription (sp?) also w/side sheilds.I have 3 different pairs.Of course my work bought them,which makes it even better. :lol: .....Rick

There are a bunch of companies out there who make shooting glasses. What I do is when I get a new prescription set I always get large lenes and also get a hardened (safety) lense. I also only buy frames from makers who also make clip-on to fit that exact frame. So I get a pair of glasses plus three sets of clip-ons, also of safety material, for about the same cost of a pair of good quality shooting glasses.

crawfish,on the clip-on sunglasses.....you now can get the ones that stick on your glasses via magnets.They are a bunch easier to put on in a rush and they work fine.......Rick
