Well I found out the problem with my baiting situation!!!

I found out this evening I have another person baiting less than 1 mile away from me. The good news is the bait was hit last night for the first time in a week but the bad news is until he gets one I'm screwed!!!

Unless the bears like his bait better what would the problem be?  Hunt it!  There may be more there than you think.  Last bear I got the bait looked like it had not even been hit.  Then to my surprize in walks a cinnimon bear and a black together.  I passed on the color phase as being too small and shot the blackie, still prime June 15th.

Hunt it.  Better than sitting home watching football.  And a heck of a lot more exciting.

But football is on a Sunday, while hunting on a SUnday is illegal in Maine...Besides that, I use hounds  :)
Down with Maine Citizens for Fair Bear hunting!
----It will kill Maine's hunting economy....Is this really what we need?
----Plus, all you other Northeasterners, if it goes through here.......your more then likely NEXT

it all depends on the number of bear in the area, someone baiting within a mile may not be a problem if you have high bear #'s, our group is 3 for 5  and we're all hunting within about a 1 square mile area.

good luck

Well I went out today and put Anise all over the place so hopefully they will hit again last night. Now last night the bait wasnt hit again. You right though all I can do is sit and wait and hopefully they night he decides to comeback I will be there waiting. As for football..Well I can still watch the early game and get in my blind by 4:00 pm, it doesnt get dark here until 7:15 pm

Don't worry.  Up in canada where I go.  We have killed 4 bear on 4 baits within 1 mile of road before.

Smoking Scent sticks will bring them in when you are there!!!
