Well, a snare's, a snare...to me that means a trail set. As for leg hold traps I like walk throughs (walk byes if in conjuction with a hole ,squeaker or the like) when I have the right type of location. I've caught many at flat sets crowded with sticks as well as little cubbys. In all cases you want to give the cat only one place to step! Often you will exclude coyotes when you make a closed set like this and you run the risck of missing a cat when you leave the set open enough for coyotes. Two more things, 1) flagging really helps ( I like bleached rib bones hung from a wire) and 2) be careful with your guide sticks... I perfer to block the cat from stepping over the pan rather than using a guide in front of the jaw (refering to flats). Hope this helps ya!
