Saw my 1st bald eagle today.It was within 1 mile of my house which is located in kingston,ny.This was a mature bird with the white plumage on its head/tail.It was soaring overhead about 100 ft off the ground.Must have wandered in from the hudson/esopus creek.

Shooter - they must be coming further north than before. I had one fish a large Bullhead from my pond the other day. First it circled the pond and I initially thought it was a Great Blue Heron until I got a good look at it and then I thought it was just a large Redtailed Hawk, until it dove for the pond, slammed into the water at the bank and came away with a large Bullhead. That was the first one I had seen here locally and I was thrilled. They will also wreak havoc on the Heron population and keep them away, as I understand it, which makes them my friends.............

Lots of them are here, all through the winter!

They feed on "winter kill", road kills and whatever smaller animals they can catch!

Really nice to see them! I used to see them by the hundreds when I was in Alaska!

I've seen quite a few over the last five years in Otsego County. Last year I was within fifty feet of a fully matured that was in a tree along the shore of Otsego Lake. Awe inspiring to say the least!

I saw a pair down near Beaver pond,by Genesee ,ny on the PA border.

I usually see them at work. They fly up and down the Delaware river which is 50 yards from our loading dock. If your ever near Hamden in Delaware county you can see there nest from the road on route 10.

My cousin has an eagles nest on his farm in Deposit. DEC has been coming to it for well over 10 years to band the babies in the spring. To watch that DEC guy climb 100ft up in that evergreen and maneuver to band them is pretty amazing.

Hey, I saw my first Eagle along the East branch of the Deleware near Delhi when I was going to school there. It was sitting in a great big old dead Sycamore tree.
