Aimpoint 2x on a Contender or Encore Pistol
« on: September 20, 2004, 04:29:32 PM »
Reading the American Rifleman recently I saw an ad for the Aimpoint and looked on their website and saw they have a 2x red dot.  Thought that it might be something to try on my 15" 260 Remington Encore for Whitetails.

Here in NY where I hunt, I am restricted to shotgun with slug or pistol, aka "Hand rifle" per some of my friends.  Shots are generally under 100yds.

Does anyone have experience with the Aimpoint 2x red dot?  I am currently using a 2x7 Burris scope, which is quite satisfactory, but just got bit by the curiosity bug.  Would it be worth the money and effort to try it?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Regards,  Rol Page

I had a 2x Aimpoint 5000. Aimpoints are great. No parallax. It does have a smaller field of view than a 1x model. I sold it and got an Aimpoint 1x 7000. It has a 30mm tube and a larger FOV. Get one of these. It's cheaper than a 2x and you don't need any magnification for 100 yards.
