load information wanted, 7 MM Rem Mag and Swift Scirocco 150
« on: September 19, 2004, 02:32:01 PM »
I'm ready to work up a load for a 7 MM Rem Mag and would appreciate any info you might have. I'll be using the Swift Scirocco 150 gr bullet, VihtaVuori N 560, Norma cases and Federal Match Large Rifle Mag primers.

The rifle was a Rem 700 BDL with a 24" sporter barrel. I changed the barrel to a 26" Sendero and added a laminated stock.

If you have data you could send me using the Scirocco and VV 560 I'd really appreciate it. I have limited access to a chronograph so actual data would be very much appreciated.

Data using the VV 560 and any 150 gr bullet would be great too. Especially the Nosler BT or Sierra MK or game getter.

Even info using VV 160 and the Scirocco or one of the other 150 gr would be helpful.

A parallel question. What is the maximum velocity you have chronographed with any 150 gr bullet in a 7 MM Rem Mag? Hopefully without undue pressure signs.

Many thanks, Steve

I have gotten my 7 mag to shoot the 150 Scirocco at about 1.25" at 100 yards using 64 grains of AA3100 and a CCI 250 primer.  Thats out of a 24" factory barrel.  Chrono is 2950.

While that is o.k., I use this gun as a long range tower stand deer rifle, and it will consistently shoot 150 grain ballistic tips at .3-.4" at 100 yards.

I will keep working with the Scirocco, becuause I have had two kills with it and the bullet has performed flawlessly.  One recovered bullet from a 35 feet head on shot traveled the length of the deer and was a perfect mushroom and retained 91% of its weight.

I have had terrible results with the 150 Scirocco in an 06'.  Consistently shoots factory at 1-1.5" and several Scirocco loads at 4-6".
