Help from load from a disk users
« on: September 30, 2004, 01:06:57 PM »
I am try to come up with a reduced load for my 243 win using the 60 gr sierra bullet using H4895 I am shooting for 2600 fps  basically 22 hornet`ish. My goal is to have a close range 150-175 coyote gun for when I am calling, I want my 243 more pelt friendly. I don't think I need full power just fast enough to reliably expand and give trajectory

The max load is 42 gr which give 3800 fps and the absolute min (60% of max according to hodgdon) is 25.2 gr velocity unknown.  My guess is 27-28  ay be upt to 30, So if there is one of you that would be so kind as to calculate the charge for me I would greatly appreciate it.

BTW I would have bought the software if they had a download I need these round loaded for saturday

Best I can do is come up close since QUICKLOAD does not have your exact bullet but I got as close as possible.

25.2 gr of H4895 should do around 2,250fps in a 243Win

I in no way would say this is safe....I do not do reduced loads!!!

But that is what you get when run through Quickload.  If you do not want to do pelt damage, I would get a sub cal. or solid bullet for the 243Win.

Thanks for the link and the calc when I ran the calculation it gave me 26.1 for 2600 fps.  i'll to test loads from 26 - 30 grs. As for safety the 60% reduction of h4895 loads is right off of the hodgdon web site so I have to trust that it is safe.

Another gun is an option but not untill I have about 30 coyotes down and I won't use solids
